Sage Purchases Alchemex

with 2 comments

I’m hearing that Sage has (or will be soon)  acquired Alchemex –  the developers behind   Sage MAS Intelligence financial reporting. According to reports this should already be a done deal awaiting only the press release from Sage.

Update 10-7-2011: Sage have confirmed that Sage Softline South Africa purchased Alchemex. As of now there are no additional details and no press release is planned.

According to the Alchemex web site – they are the leading developer, enabler and support-provider of affordable and flexible Excel-based Business Intelligence software for small to medium enterprises.

Alchemex offers business intelligence software solutions that leverage the power of Microsoft® Excel as a report writer, delivering sophisticated reporting to your desktop. Automate the production of your management accounts, get real-time graphical overviews of your business, undertake high speed multi-dimensional analysis of large volumes of data and distribute authenticated real time reports securely.

In January 2010 Sage announced that Alchemex’s reporting tools would replace the FRX Financial Report Writer which was discontinued by Microsoft. Sage re-branded Alchemex as Sage MAS Intelligence and now makes it available in North America  for Sage ERP MAS90 and 200, Sage Peachtree, Sage Accpac and Sage Simply Accounting.

Terms aren’t known though according to rumor this is a done deal awaiting announcement by Sage. I have an email into Sage and if I hear more I’ll update.

Via Sage PR: Hi, Wayne. There’s nothing to report on that topic. I’ll be sure to let you know if any acquisitions do come up.

Update: Continue to hear from other sources that this purchase happened and has just not yet been announced by Sage.

  1. I would think that this is a good move, since SAI has been packages with one license with Sage Accpac.
