Sleeter Group Turns Up The Heat With Summer Small Business Technology Roadshow

The Sleeter Group, a national  provider of technical reference materials, software expertise, and QuickBooks training materials for accounting solutions consultants, is hitting the road this summer for a 9 city tour kicking off on July 17, 2012 in Tampa FL and ending 8/2/12 in San Francisco CA.

Admission is dirt cheap – starting at FREE for small business owners who attend with their accountant.

Small Business owners going solo pay $49 and accountants pay $59 ($10 discount for Sleeter members).

The topic appears to be cloud computing as evidenced by the promotional video, the sponors and this blurb from the invitation:

Now, like never before, accountants and their clients can work together via the Internet to broaden the scope of what you do together, and enhance the accountant/client relationship. At these seminars, both accountants and their clients can learn how to put powerful new solutions to work.

There are some companies missing from sponsorship – including Intacct (who says they do most marketing to CPAs through CPA2BIZ), Wave, Xero. These companies all have been actively marketing to the CPA and their customer though it’s possible the market is too low end or they want to wait to see how the attendance and feedback is before committing sponsorship money.

Based on the description of the program, this seems as if the concept is similar to one promoted by KC Truby for several years under a membership program  ( – now seemingly defunct )to teach accountants to get customers by holding QuickBooks seminars and eventually having customers outsource their accounting through shared computing – though KC’s concept seems to have morphed into a paperless outsourcing program and so far as I’m aware Sleeter Group is largely an educational organization and approaches the market more from the viewpoint of improving the services offered to existing clients.

The price on this conference is right. Sleeter puts on a great show which I attended in Arizona in 2008 and was thoroughly impressed.
