Tom Miller came to Sage in 2009 shortly after the arrival of Jodi Uecker-Rust who had recently joined as president of Sage Business Solution. Uecker-Rust subsequently departed in June 2010 leaving Miller to hold the fort in a challenging ERP partner environment.
During his tenure at Sage Tom Miller oversaw some less than popular – though necessary -changes in partner program terms such as increased educational requirements and a reduction in partner support cases.
Though Sage North America has undergone much change in leadership – Tom Miller was always the steady force for channel partners to discuss issues or request help with Sage concerns. He notably recruited several key Sage executives from Microsoft and worked tirelessly to listen to the concerns of all partners at Sage no matter how big or small.
It does not look as if Sage have announced plans to replace Tom with most existing channel executives being slightly reshuffled to take on new tasks required by Tom’s retirement.
Given that the email announcing Tom’s departure was one of the more glowing executive change announcements from Sage that I can remember I’m thinking this is mostly as stated – a well deserved retirement.
Full release after the break.
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Tom Miller from Sage. After four years with us as our Vice President of Channel Management, Tom will retire at the end of March. His last day in the office will be Friday, March 29, 2013.
Tom came to Sage in June 2009 and has transformed our Sage Channel. He has been instrumental in Sage’s success, and also the success of our partners. Tom assembled and developed an experienced channel management team that continues to deliver strategic value every day. Further, his passion and understanding of the importance of Sage Summit, and the interactive benefits of partners and customers attending together, helped lead to our first annual Partner/Customer Sage Summit in 2011. Tom is recognized in the media as a respected and effective spokesperson for Sage, and was named a Channel Chief by CRN magazine the last three years.
As Tom makes his transition we will look to our channel team for support—many with whom our partners have been working closely already and have developed respected business relationships with them. Our channel leadership team will work with Tom to ensure continuity of business and a seamless transition as we realign his team under senior leaders of my staff as follows:
• Channel Programs & Communications led by Joo Sohn, Director of Partner Programs, will become part of Kevin Rooker’s team; Kevin is the Vice President of Sales Management and Operations.
• Partner Development & Strategy led by Ed Kless, Sr. Director, will report to Joo Sohn (Director of Partner Programs).
• Channel Growth Management leaders will align to our Sales Vice Presidents:
o Rick Burtt, Central Region, and Rachel Roselli, West Region, will join Tim Sullivan’s team.
o Brent Pieterick, Canada & Latin America Region, and Joe Carroll, East Region, will join Mike Wingrove’s team.
• Sage ERP X3 Channel Recruitment & Enablement leaders:
o Roger Demers and Erin McGrane will align to Donna Armstrong who is our Vice President of Sales for Sage ERP X3.
We thank Tom for his service and endless dedication to Sage and will miss his wonderfully positive attitude and constant smile. His retirement is certainly well deserved and we send him with our deep gratitude and a wholehearted wish for all the good things he has so humbly earned.
Executive Vice President,
Mid-Market and CRM Solutions
