Looks as if the Sage playbook which at one point had at least two of Sage’s current executives managing the channel has been rewritten. A job listing has just gone live (as of October 20, 2013 according to LinkedIn) advertising for a channel executive.
If this job posting (only a $1,500 recruiting bonus??) is intended to signal a search meant to replace departed channel executive Tom Miller it also seems to signal a change in plans.
As someone has pointed out – the job posting does not indicate for which product line(s) this position would have authority. The position does say that it’s based out of Irvine, CA so mid-market ERP would be a good guess though it’s possible that the position could manage ERP X3 as well – although I’m told Sage’s Tim Sullivan has been slotted only recently to assist the ERP X3 channel in NA.
At one time Sage indicated that EVP, General Manager Mid-Market Solutions Joe Langer and VP of Sales Management and Operations Kevin Rooker would take up the slack in channel management left by Miller’s March 2013 departure.
Miller has since surfaced at Sage VAR Net@Work where a July 2013 press release indicted he would
lead Net@Work’s Partner Development Practice; Miller to provide strategic direction to the company’s Alliance Program and support to resellers, integrators and professional services firms looking to offer comprehensive business solutions to SMB customers.
On the bright side for those who’ve wondered about Sage’s channel plans – the job listing for VP Channel Strategy indicates ” building and growing our channel as well as developing our channel strategy over the next 3-5 years.” which seems like a good indication that the Sage NA channel is expected to remain intact for the foreseeable future.
