Saleforce acquires SteelBrick

I am unsure what this means long-term for Sage Live and other products built on the Salesforce platform. I don’t think I’d want to be developing a quote-to-cash application and competing with a now native Salesforce offering.

On December 23, 2015,, inc. (the “Company”) entered into a definitive agreement (the “Merger Agreement”) to acquire SteelBrick, Inc. (“SteelBrick”). SteelBrick is a next generation quote-to-cash platform, delivered 100 percent natively on the Salesforce platform, that offers apps for automating the entire deal close process-from generating quotes and configuring orders to collecting cash. Following the acquisition, SteelBrick will be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company.

Under the terms of the Merger Agreement, upon consummation of the acquisition, the Company will issue shares of Company common stock and assume stock options and other equity awards of SteelBrick for an aggregate consideration valued at approximately $360 million ($300 million net of cash acquired) after deducting consideration attributable to Salesforce Ventures’ existing investment in SteelBrick, subject to customary purchase price adjustments.

Salesforce World Tour NYC and Sage Life – Reviewed

Spent the day in NYC at the Salesforce World Tour NYC. I sat in on the keynote at 10am by President Keith Block. Sage and Salesforce Talk Sage Life on Salesforce 1 Platform

Sage CEO Stephen Kelly and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff today met in what was billed as a fireside chat. The topic? The newly announced Sage / Salesforce partnership – which apparently will kick off with a product named Sage Life due for general release in Summer 2015 on the Salesforce One platform. The new product will be structured for 10 to “a few hundred” employees.

Existing Sage products continue to be slotted into where on premises are more appropriate.

The two leaders are set to discuss “the partnership between the world’s #1 small business accounting company and the world’s #1 CRM solution and enterprise cloud platform.”

While the agenda was not disclosed – based on job postings in North America it’s a safe bet one thing up for discussion could be Sage developing on the Salesforce1 platform – possibly beginning with a product geared to the Non-Profit market and using their  Sage One Extra SaaS product.

Some chit-chat about Sage or Salesforce investing in each other however I think the goal from UK is to increase new customer sales and a development partnership with Salesforce makes more sense.
